The Dolder Grand is the flagship property of Dolder Hotel AG, featuring 175 guest rooms and suites, multi-award-winning restau\u00adrants \u2013 including The Restaurant, which holds two Michelin stars \u2013 compre\u00adhensive event and conference facil\u00adities, and a 4,000 m\u00b2 spa. Seasonal pop-up events, cultural collab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtions, and the gourmet festival THE EPICURE enhance the Dolder Grand\u2019s core offering and strengthen its repu\u00adtation as a year-round desti\u00adnation for unfor\u00adget\u00adtable expe\u00adri\u00adences and refined indul\u00adgence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Beyond its hotel oper\u00ada\u00adtions, Dolder Hotel AG also oversees a diverse port\u00adfolio of resi\u00addential and commercial prop\u00aderties. The Dolder Waldhaus is currently under\u00adgoing a compre\u00adhensive reno\u00advation (see below<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Value creation is rooted in the seamless inte\u00adgration of the accom\u00admo\u00addation, catering, events, and spa divi\u00adsions, supported by key resources: the iconic property with its unri\u00advalled setting over\u00adlooking Zurich, a team of over 600 employees from 87 nations, a strong brand identity, and enduring part\u00adner\u00adships with care\u00adfully selected suppliers and service providers. Core func\u00adtions \u2013 including finance, HR, marketing, procurement, tech\u00adnical services, security, quality management, and sustain\u00adability \u2013 are all managed in-house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n \n

The guests at The Dolder Grand are an inter\u00adna\u00adtional and diverse mix, with private trav\u00adellers \u2013 partic\u00adu\u00adlarly Frequent Indi\u00advidual Trav\u00adellers \u2013 accounting for around three-quarters of all overnight stays. Business trav\u00adellers, as well as group and event guests (MICE), make up the remainder. The most important source markets include the USA, Switzerland, and the Gulf States, followed by Germany, the Asia-Pacific region, and the UK. In addition, local and national guests actively utilise the hotel\u2019s dining, event, and spa offerings, with the Day Spa expe\u00adri\u00adencing steadily growing demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n \n

\n \n Dolder Waldhaus and prop\u00aderties<\/span>\n \n\n<\/svg>\n<\/span>\n <\/button>\n <\/h3>\n \n \n\n

In addition to the Dolder Grand, the company owns further prop\u00aderties in Zurich. The Dolder Waldhaus<\/a> \u2013 a historic landmark in Zurich with over a century of heritage, is currently under\u00adgoing a compre\u00adhensive reno\u00advation. Rather than constructing a new building, Dolder Hotel AG has chosen to preserve and transform the existing structure, signif\u00adi\u00adcantly reducing embodied energy compared to a new build. The energy-effi\u00adcient refur\u00adbishment adheres to the Minergie standard and incor\u00adpo\u00adrates geot\u00adhermal probes, photo\u00advoltaics, and exten\u00adsively greened roof and terrace areas. The future offering will include approx\u00adi\u00admately 90 rental apart\u00adments, a public restaurant, and a communal co-working space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t\n \n\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t\n\n\"\"\n\t\t\t<\/picture>\n\t <\/div>\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n \n

Our business oper\u00ada\u00adtions extend far beyond the hotel itself, embedded within a value chain that spans from sourcing to oper\u00ada\u00adtions, waste management, and guest and employee mobility. Sustain\u00adability is integral not only to processes within the hotel but also to upstream and down\u00adstream activ\u00adities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Upstream<\/strong>, we collab\u00adorate with a wide range of national and inter\u00adna\u00adtional partners to source food and beverages, textiles, laundry services, cleaning and care products, cosmetics, energy, and tech\u00adnical util\u00adities. Our internal procurement policy priori\u00adtises quality, sustain\u00adability, and cost-effec\u00adtiveness, supporting local sourcing, short supply chains, fair trade prin\u00adciples, human rights stan\u00addards, and circular economy prac\u00adtices \u2013 partic\u00adu\u00adlarly reusability, repairability, and recy\u00adcla\u00adbility. This policy is rein\u00adforced by a supplier code of conduct, struc\u00adtured selection criteria, and annual assess\u00adments for key partners. The procurement of food, beverages, and laundry services contributes signif\u00adi\u00adcantly to upstream emis\u00adsions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Down\u00adstream<\/strong>, our value chain encom\u00adpasses waste disposal and recy\u00adcling, waste\u00adwater treatment, green\u00adhouse gas emis\u00adsions, as well as the journeys of our guests and employees to and from the prop\u00aderties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n \n

\n \n Our path to sustain\u00adability<\/span>\n \n\n<\/svg>\n<\/span>\n <\/button>\n <\/h3>\n \n \n\n

The catalyst: sustain\u00adability as an investment, not a cost centre<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

The catalyst for our sustain\u00adability journey was the trans\u00adfor\u00admative refur\u00adbishment of the Dolder Grand between 2004 and 2008 under Foster + Partners. A defining decision was the instal\u00adlation of 70 geot\u00adhermal probes at a depth of 152 metres, which dras\u00adti\u00adcally reduced our reliance on fossil fuels despite doubling the floor space. This initiative was further supported by a long-standing part\u00adnership with the Energy Agency for Industry (EnAW), estab\u00adlished in 2005, which continues to deliver annual energy and CO\u2082 savings of over 1,500 MWh. Sustain\u00adability, we firmly believe, is not a cost but an investment in long-term success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

The trans\u00adfor\u00admation: from indi\u00advidual measures to a management system<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Following the reopening in 2008, our commitment evolved from grass\u00adroots efforts to a struc\u00adtured, measurable approach. In 2018, employees launched the D-Impact team \u2013 volunteer ambas\u00adsadors who embed sustainable prac\u00adtices across all depart\u00adments. The pivotal moment came in 2019, when management decided to certify our sustain\u00adability perfor\u00admance inde\u00adpen\u00addently. This led to the estab\u00adlishment of a sustain\u00adability management system aligned with the Earth\u00adCheck corporate standard and the formation of the D-Force team, comprising managers and specialists respon\u00adsible for imple\u00admen\u00adtation, data management, and internal commu\u00adni\u00adcation. Sustain\u00adability tran\u00adsi\u00adtioned from a collection of good inten\u00adtions into a controlled, measurable process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

The results have been trans\u00adfor\u00admative: Earth\u00adCheck Silver certi\u00adfi\u00adcation in 2020, followed by Earth\u00adCheck Gold in 2024 and confir\u00admation in 2025. Addi\u00adtional mile\u00adstones include part\u00adner\u00adships with myclimate and the \u2018Cause We Care\u2019 initiative, Swis\u00adstainable Level III \u2013 Leading certi\u00adfi\u00adcation, membership in Respon\u00adsible Hotels of Switzerland, the myclimate Tourism Award in 2022, and the instal\u00adlation of a photo\u00advoltaic system with 488 panels in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Where we stand today: Maturity and trans\u00adparency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Today, Dolder Hotel AG operates a mature sustain\u00adability management system that is reviewed annually through inde\u00adpendent audits. Our progress culmi\u00adnated in 2024 with Earth\u00adCheck Gold certi\u00adfi\u00adcation, which was success\u00adfully confirmed in 2025. In 2026, the company was further recog\u00adnised as a Top Employer Switzerland and received the \u2018Sustain\u00adability Leader\u2019 (The Leading Hotels of the World) and \u2018Verified Respon\u00adsible Hospi\u00adtality\u2019 (Forbes Travel Guide) acco\u00adlades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
