5. Stakeholder engagement
Our stakeholders
Dolder Hotel AG maintains an ongoing dialogue with its key stakeholders to ensure our sustainability efforts align with their expectations and needs. As part of our sustainability reporting, we have identified the most relevant stakeholders based on our business model, existing dialogue formats, and internal assessments. Their expectations regarding our sustainability management have shaped our priorities.
In this first reporting year, we have not yet conducted a formal stakeholder survey specifically focused on sustainability topics. Instead, the insights presented here are drawn from existing feedback mechanisms – including our annual guest surveys, employee surveys, and supplier assessments – supplemented by perspectives from industry associations and specialist groups. We are committed to gradually expanding the systematic involvement of our stakeholders in sustainability reporting. A first step in this direction is the feedback survey included with this report, inviting all stakeholders to share their expectations and feedback on the relevance, comprehensibility, and completeness of our reporting. The results will inform the further development of this report and the next update of our materiality analysis.
Authorities (federal, cantonal and City of Zurich) expect compliance with all relevant environmental and labour regulations, as well as transparent reporting. We meet their expectations through annual legal compliance audits, our certified sustainability management system, and proactive anticipation of regulatory developments.
Guests and customers (individuals and B2B partners such as agencies, companies, and online booking platforms) expect environmentally friendly initiatives, sustainable services, and transparency. We gather and integrate their feedback into the design of our offerings and procurement processes.
Employees expect fair working conditions, training and development as well as opportunities for participation. The annual employee survey also assesses the importance of environmental and social sustainability. We promote engagement through internal communication, e-learning and the work of the D-Impact team. Our certification as a Top Employer underscores our commitment to being a responsible employer.
Suppliers and subcontractors increasingly expect clarity regarding sustainability criteria in our collaboration. We address this expectation with an internal procurement policy that takes environmental, social and economic criteria into account, as well as a supplier code of conduct. New suppliers are evaluated using a structured guide; for strategically important suppliers, we conduct annual assessments. Sustainability-related criteria are being gradually integrated into our evaluation processes.
The Board of Directors and Executive Board are responsible for embedding sustainability strategically and ensuring compliance with all regulations. This is managed through the certified sustainability management system and annual ESG reporting.
Shareholders have a legitimate interest in transparency regarding sustainability goals and progress. We meet this requirement through, among other things, annual ESG reporting as part of esg2go, carbon footprinting with myclimate, and this VSME Sustainability Report.
Professional exchange and cooperation
We place particular value on engaging in dialogue at the specialist and peer exchange group gatherings organised by Responsible Hotels of Switzerland, as well as in the thematic circles of Swiss Deluxe Hotels. There, we share experiences, discuss current developments and work together to develop practical solutions – ranging from energy and resource management and sustainable procurement to social aspects of human resources management and employees.
In addition, we maintain dialogue with partners such as myclimate and EnAW, industry associations and alliances (HotellerieSuisse, Swiss Tourism Federation), the media and the local community. Through local partnerships and initiatives – such as those within the framework of FOOD ZURICH or the Zurich Film Festival – we contribute to cultural and social diversity in Zurich. By actively listening to and collaborating with our stakeholders, we ensure that our sustainability strategy remains relevant, effective, and aligned with the values and expectations of those who matter most.
