7.2 Respon­sible procurement & human rights

We work respon­sibly, respect­fully and for the long term with our suppliers and partners. We meet social require­ments through our commitment to the prin­ciples of fair trade, including compliance with human rights stan­dards within our supply chain. Wherever possible, we give pref­erence to local products: in 2025, 52% of the fresh produce we sourced was of Swiss origin.

Supplier Code.

Signing the Supplier Code is mandatory for all suppliers. If a supplier does not wish to make this commitment or a breach is iden­tified, this may lead to the termi­nation of the business rela­tionship. The Code comprises the following binding require­ments:

Labour and human rights:

Prohi­bition of discrim­i­nation; protection against exploitation and child labour in accor­dance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; the right to a fair wage and compliance with statutory minimum wages; adequate rest periods and fair compen­sation for overtime; freedom of asso­ci­ation and the right to join a trade union.

Health and safety:

Minimi­sation of health risks and accident risks in the work­place; emer­gency plans and appro­priate training; access to clean sanitary facil­ities.

Envi­ron­mental impact:

Compliance with all applicable envi­ron­mental protection laws; iden­ti­fi­cation and minimi­sation of potential envi­ron­mental risks; avoidance of negative impacts at every stage of the product life cycle.

Integrity and fair business prac­tices:

Trans­parency in all business trans­ac­tions; zero tolerance of corruption, bribery or extortion; fairness towards subcon­tractors. Suppliers are obliged to ensure compliance with the Code by any subcon­tractors they engage.

Sustain­ability criteria in supplier selection.

The procurement strategy is based on the sustain­ability policy of Dolder Hotel AG and the Earth­Check corporate stan­dards. When selecting suppliers, we check whether they have an envi­ron­mental management system or relevant certi­fi­ca­tions. During the annual supplier assess­ments, we record whether the supplier has agreed to the Code or holds certi­fi­cation such as B Corp or Fair­trade. Dolder Hotel AG plays its part by paying fair prices.

Our aim is to contin­u­ously increase the proportion of local fresh produce (orig­i­nating in Switzerland) (actual for 2025: 52%) – also as a contri­bution to shorter, more trans­parent supply chains with a lower risk of human rights viola­tions. Coverage of the Supplier Code is being system­at­i­cally expanded: the aim is for all key suppliers to sign up to it. In addition, we will grad­ually further develop the sustain­ability criteria in the annual supplier assessment.

Going forward, we aim to gain a deeper under­standing of the impacts and potential risks of the agri­cul­tural products we source – partic­u­larly vegetables, fruit, chocolate, coffee and tea – on issues such as human rights, exploitation and child labour. We also wish to analyse the degree of season­ality of our fresh produce in greater detail. To this end, we are eval­u­ating potential partners and tech­nical solu­tions.

Dolder Hotel AG is not aware of any confirmed inci­dents in the value chain during the reporting year. At the same time, we are aware that, due to the sourcing of food and agri­cul­tural products from sectors with struc­turally high risk – in particular coffee, cocoa, tea, fish and exotic spices – potential negative impacts on workers in upstream production stages cannot be ruled out. Wage poverty, excessive working hours and poor occu­pa­tional safety are inter­na­tionally docu­mented risks in these sectors. Simi­larly, there are struc­tural risks of discrim­i­nation in agri­cul­tural and textile production – partic­u­larly affecting women, migrants and ethnic minorities.

Dolder Hotel AG addresses these risks through its Supplier Code of Conduct and its commitment to the prin­ciples of fair trade. An in-depth analysis of human rights risks in critical procurement cate­gories is planned for the coming reporting years.
